FRAUDULENT PHONE CALLS.

 

Residents have warned of receiving suspicious telephone calls claiming that their computer motherboards have been infected.

Characteristics of call appear to be

  • International call (there is delay in the communication)
  • Middle eastern accent, possibly Indian.
  • Person claims that your motherboard has been infected. NOT A VIRUS but INFECTION
  • Person asks for confirmation that it is Windows Operating System.
  • Person gives false Australian telephone number as contact.
  • Person will then pass you on to 'Supervisor' with older voice who supports claim then hands back.
  • Person asks you to startup your computer.

If you receive any calls claiming that electronic equipment at your residence has been detected as faulty then HANG UP.
